Pavel Durov has unveiled an AI laboratory in Kazakhstan as part of a collaboration between Telegram and the country’s supercomputer. He made this announcement at the Digital Bridge 2025 forum in Astana.

«A year ago, we established our first regional office in Kazakhstan, and we are very pleased with the results. I am delighted to announce that we are launching a specialized artificial intelligence lab in the Alem.ai building today,» the entrepreneur stated.

He pointed out that the company has been working on new technology over the past few months, focusing on the intersection of blockchain and AI. According to Durov, this will enable over a billion individuals to utilize AI functionalities in a confidential, transparent, and efficient manner.

«We hope that the Kazakh supercomputing cluster will become the primary provider of computational power for this network,» the head of Telegram added.

Mini-apps within Telegram will be the first to implement this technology.

During Digital Bridge 2025, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, had a conversation with Durov. They discussed potential collaborations in education, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.

The president acknowledged Telegram’s contribution to the country’s digital agenda. Durov presented Tokayev with concepts for joint projects in the AI sector.

It is worth noting that in July, a ceremony was held at Kazakhstan’s National Supercomputing Center Alemcloud to launch a supercomputer based on Nvidia H200 graphics processors.
