Обновление Tallinn: Tezos снижает время блока до рекордных шести секунд Translation: Headline: Tallinn Upgrade: Tezos Reduces Block Time to Record Six Seconds

The Tezos blockchain platform team has activated the milestone twentieth protocol upgrade, called Tallinn.

This update was developed by specialists from Nomadic Labs, Trilitech, and Functori.

The main changes for the network include:

Reducing the block time has enabled achieving finality at the first level in just 12 seconds. Developers noted that this solution was implemented while maintaining a low entry threshold for network validation in terms of hardware requirements.

The option for block validation by all bakers, rather than just a portion, is based on the BLS signature scheme used in tz4 addresses. Consequently, this change will take effect after 50% of validators transition to the new format.

The data indexing registry allows for a reduction in storage requirements for enterprise applications in the Michelson execution environment by up to 100 times. This has been achieved by eliminating redundant address information from smart contracts. The team highlighted that widespread adoption of this feature will enhance the network’s potential throughput.

The quotes for the native token XTZ did not change in response to the latest Tezos upgrade. Amidst the general market volatility, the asset is trading at around $0.58, with a capitalization of approximately $615 million. This price is nearly 94% lower than the historical peak of $9.12 reached in October 2021.

According to DeFiLlama, the total blocked value in the protocol stands at $35.2 million. Dominating this figure are the synthetic asset platform Youves ($26.7 million) and the decentralized exchange Sirius ($5.9 million). Additionally, around $1.3 million is attributed to the Kolibri stablecoin, which is issued against debt positions in XTZ.

It’s worth recalling that in March 2025, Tezos co-founder Arthur Breitman identified the lack of «fundamentality» as a key risk for cryptocurrencies.
