In the early hours of August 8, following a recalibration, the mining difficulty of the first cryptocurrency rose by 1.42% to reach 129.44 trillion.

This marked the third consecutive increase, setting a new historical peak. The average time between blocks has now reached 14 minutes and 31 seconds.

As reported by Glassnode, the hash rate (7-day moving average) is at record levels, approximately 966 exahashes per second (EH/s).

According to Hashrate Index, the hash price over the past 24 hours has slightly fallen from $58 to $57 per petahash per second. The mining profitability metric has remained stable at these levels since mid-July.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at $116,800, having risen 2.5% over the past week, according to CoinGecko.

It is worth noting that analysts at JPMorgan have described July as a successful month for public Bitcoin miners, as their revenue per EH/s reached its highest level since the last halving.
