Влияние пилотных проектов CBDC на развитие XRP Ledger: взгляд бывшего советника Ripple Translation: Headline: The Impact of CBDC Pilot Projects on the Development of XRP Ledger: Insights from a Former Ripple Advisor

Participation in pilot projects focused on national digital currencies has enabled Ripple to gain deeper insights into the needs of central banks and the function of commercial institutions. This was stated by the company’s former advisor on CBDC, Anthony Welfare.

Since 2021, Ripple has been involved in several collaborative CBDC initiatives with various countries. Among its partners are Palau, Montenegro, Bhutan, Georgia, and the United Kingdom.

According to Welfare, these practical studies have significantly impacted the development of the XRP Ledger (XRPL) network, benefiting both Ripple and its ecosystem partners. The experiments have also drawn the company’s attention to stablecoins, aiding its preparation for the current phase of their exponential growth.

In 2023, the company launched a platform based on XRPL aimed at issuing central bank digital currencies and stablecoins.

“Right now, the focus needs to be on interoperability—CBDCs, stablecoins, tokenized deposits, etc.—they all need to work together so that individuals and businesses can easily use them,” emphasized Welfare.

In August, Ripple introduced its own dollar-pegged token, RLUSD. The asset was issued on XRPL and Ethereum’s mainnet. At the time of writing, the market capitalization of the coin approached $790 million, amounting to a small percentage of the stablecoin market, which exceeds $300 billion.

It is worth noting that Ripple has formed a partnership with DBS and Franklin Templeton to launch tokenized trading and lending products based on XRPL and RLUSD.
