Виталик Бутерин и Dragonfly ставят на MegaETH: мейннет запускается 9 февраля Translation: Vitalik Buterin and Dragonfly Back MegaETH: Mainnet Launches on February 9

The launch of the blockchain MegaETH is set for February 9. This project, regarded as one of the most anticipated industry debuts, is supported by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin.

The claimed throughput is 100,000 transactions per second with latency in milliseconds. At the same time, MegaETH maintains full compatibility with Ethereum.

The team aims to create a «world computer» and eliminate the boundaries between Web2 servers and distributed ledgers. In the testnet, developers are already creating video games, prediction markets, and payment applications.

Among the investors are the venture firm Dragonfly Capital, Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin, EigenLayer creator Shriram Kannan, and Helius founder Mert Mumtaz.

Last year, the project’s operator, MegaLabs, conducted a token sale. The demand significantly exceeded supply: 11,534 wallets contributed $300 million against a fundraising cap of $50 million. To allocate tokens, the team employed a unique method by analyzing investors’ activity history on social media.

In the MegaETH ecosystem, a native yield-generating stablecoin USDm will be introduced. Its issuer will be Ethena, with backing provided by a tokenized fund from BlackRock.

It’s worth noting that in March 2025, a developer under the alias Gunboats ported the recently sanctioned mixer Tornado Cash to the test network of the L2 project MegaETH.
