Анатолий Аксаков первым получил зарплату в цифровых рублях и совершил благотворительные переводы Translation: Anatoly Aksakov is the first to receive a salary in digital rubles and made charitable transfers

In Russia, the first salary payment in digital rubles has been made. The recipient was Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma’s Financial Market Committee, as reported by RBC, citing a statement from the Ministry of Finance.

«The inaugural budget payment in digital rubles has been successfully completed. The Treasury of Russia carried out the first salary disbursement in digital rubles to an individual holding a state position in the Russian Federation,» the statement read.

Aksakov initiated the transaction himself, receiving the funds in his personal digital wallet on the Central Bank’s platform.

The deputy also conducted several other transactions: he donated to the charity fund «Line of Life,» which assists children with illnesses, contributed to the charity organization «SOS Children’s Villages,» and settled a bill at the restaurant «Teremok.»

The Ministry of Finance clarified that payments in digital rubles will only be made at the recipients’ request.

The widespread implementation of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) in the Russian market is scheduled for September 2026, with President Vladimir Putin signing the relevant legislation.

Starting next fall, banks will be required to provide clients with the ability to conduct transactions using the national digital currency. The full rollout of this asset is planned for September 1, 2028.

The foundational law regarding the digital ruble in Russia came into effect on August 1, 2023. It was anticipated that major Russian banks would grant citizens access to transactions using it by July 2025.

It is worth noting that Russian authorities plan to introduce fines for the use of cryptocurrency to pay for goods and services starting in 2026.
